About us
Who we are
We are supporting community development and life saving
Jubba agropastoral relief and development organization (JARDO) is a community based organization, non-political, and non-profitable humanitarian relief- and development organization that works to save lives and promote self-reliance and dignity through human transformation going beyond relief and development with a vision to bring humanitarian assistance to vulnerable people in danger of natural and human-induced disasters. A group of Somali intellectuals from Somalia and the Diaspora communities founded 2016 JARDO organization focus on alleviating the long-overdue suffering of the agropastoral communities affected by man-made and natural disasters in rural and urban areas of south-central Somalia.
Conflict, fragility, and ongoing disasters in Somalia caused inadequate access to food, livelihood possibilities, nutrition, and market knowledge. According to recent figures, 6 million individuals need food assistance, and 1.4 million children may be severely undernourished. Shocks such as drought, floods, disease, locusts, and forced evictions are exacerbated by climate change, environmental degradation, and the constrained ability of local authorities to respond.
JARDO deals with humanitarian, relief, recovery, resilience, and emergency response through coordinated support with national and international partnerships. The organization provides sustainable, locally driven solutions to help pastoral and Agro-pastoral communities increase their capacity to adapt to the effects of climate change and natural calamities.
